Stories like these are one of the best things coming out of the Detroit Lions making it this far in the Playoffs. For years, the narrative has always been this time of year, who will coach the Lions next or who will they take in the draft. Not this year, this year we are excited about an NFC Championship and the stories from fans who have waited so long to see it happen. One of those examples is the Lions number one fan from England.

This was a cool story we were able to follow up with. We have heard what a Lions win would mean to the people of Detroit and Michigan. Fortunately, you can find Lions fans all over the world. Alan Bolchover is from London, England. He has a been a Lions fan ever since he got a hat when he was a child.

ALAN'S STORY

It all started when Alan has his family took a trip to the Republic of Ireland in 1985. He said, his mother and him jumped on a horse and cart to make their way around the town. On that cart was another family, who just happened to be from Detroit. Alan said for the remainder of that ride, he was told all about the Detroit Lions and the history of the team. Right then and there, Alan fell in love with the Detroit Lions. After the family from Detroit gave Alan a Lions hat, the rest was history as Alan said. Instantly, he fell in love with the team.

He said, since then he has pulled all nighters to support his favorite team, even through the small ups and massive downs. Alan, even took to Facebook to share his story and on the off chance find the family who gave him the cap.

Here is Alan's Facebook post:

We had Alan on to tell his story:

Again, this is what I love most about the Lions being in the NFC Championship. You get to hear these stories that would otherwise be buried by the talks of another failed season.

Everyone is getting in on the Lions this postseason. Here are some of our favorite Detroiters picks.

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
