Facebook Not Working Today
Scott RandallThis is how I, Screamin' Scott, survived the Facebook Crash of 2024.
It was a typical day in the office at WCSX on Tuesday, the 5th of March, 2024. The 10 o'clock clock in my office chimed out its tone. I was going through Facebook messages one by one when suddenly, Facebook disappeared from my office computer. The screen went white and popped back on, prompting me to re-enter my password. No problem, I popped in my password only to be told, "Password incorrect try again. Yet, after a few attempts, it had me change my login password. Again, Facebook rejected that new word and then locked me out!
Facebook, Instagram Hit by Outage

Facebook and Instagram, both under the Meta umbrella of companies, experienced widespread technical problems lasting more than two hours Tuesday, with hundreds of thousands of users logging errors when accessing the social media services. So, I was not alone in my panic, thinking the world was ending abruptly. According to monitoring service Downdetector, error reports went off the charts at about 10:30 a.m. They had received more than 500,000 error reports. All of the problems reported by Facebook users related to trouble logging in the same situation I had.
Where Else Did People Have Problems?
Friends who use Instagram told me that their feed was not refreshing and that they could not post anything to the platform. The outage was also on Threads." Thank goodness Twitter X was not affected; where would I post photos of what I planned to have for lunch? Or any number of selfies I needed to take in the afternoon? Facebook did release a Facebook Login Status update that went up on social media that read," "We are aware of an issue impacting Facebook Login. Our engineering teams seek to resolve the issue as quickly as possible."
What Did Elon Musk Think Of All This?
Being a multi-billionaire has his share of joy over this news of the outage. I found his humor pretty spot on today, as Elon Musk posted on his X account, "If you're reading this post, it's because our servers are working."
My Afternoon Was Saved, And All Is Well ( Almost Everything)
The funny thing is, while all this was happening, I talked to my neighbor in person! I know it's hard to believe, but I experienced a real live conversation. Human-to-human interaction. I called my friends on the old landline and said, "How are you doing today?" the voice on the other end even talked back to me and made me smile.
OMG! Facebook is back on! Ok, nice chatting with you all, but I have a lot to catch up on. Here's what I plan to eat later.

KISS IN A COFFEE COMMERCIAL
KISS' hit song "I Was Made For Loving You" is featured in the new commercial for the U.K. coffee brand. In the 60-second spot, dozens of men and women, including genuine Costa baristas, are buried up to their necks in a sea of coffee beans while singing along to the KISS track. Makes me want coffee about now.
