Mysterious Airborne Car On I-75 – Did It Happen?
Did ANYONE see the airborne car on I-75 last week in Oakland County (Exit 81 is what it looks like for Lapeer Road). Here’s what’s weird about it: We have a reddit thread and some folks posting the video – but there’s nothing in Google news about it (Ryan was checking our traffic service as well…nope). We do have this version of the SUV.
Airborne Car on I-75….So What Happened?
It all started with a reddit thread in the r/Unexpected forum showing an airborne SUV and claiming it was here in Michigan. After looking at the video we figured out it’s exit 81 off I-75 (Lapeer Road) – I drove that way home on Tuesday to check it out and you can see the bent out guard rail when the vehicle in question probably went through it (we also had a listener call with the same observation). So what’s the big deal?
There’s Nothing On The News
Wouldn’t you think in a world where we get instant feedback on everything that this story would definitely show up? Nothing. Just a story from the Daily Mail with no particulars in it other than what we shared. Weird, huh?
So we started thinking maybe it happened a couple of years ago, right? Nothing showed up. Then our buddy texted us and said a dispatcher (who’s a friend of the family) heard about it on Wednesday. They’ve got no reason to lie about it – so it did happen, right?
Bottom Line on Airborne Car on I-75
Couple of things as we go right to the bottom line:
- We trust our friend who had family confirm that it did happen last Wednesday (and the folks in the SUV are okay).
- The Reddit thread doesn’t show up anywhere else (previous threads, etc). We’ve had plenty of stories about car flying into things (like houses in this one) – but we can’t find this story ANYWHERE!
- I’d like to believe that occasionally we do have something that just happens and isn’t documented by 50 camera angles.
