I got a couple of texts Thursday afternoon asked me “hey, what did Kelly Stafford say?”. Well here you go - watch the TikTok and then let’s dive into it (because a lot of people have jumped to conclusions).
What did Kelly Stafford Say?
Here’s a bit of the conversation with Kelly talking about her relationship with Matthew in college:
(host) Wait, so was he trying to casually date and you were all in?
(Kelly) Oh, yeah, girl. Anyways, long story short, it wasn't that cute of a relationship at first. I hated him. I loved him. I dated the backup to piss him off.
He was the bad boy too. Like, Matthew's so sweet and southern gentleman and all that. And the backup was the complete opposite. Oh, and it upset him.
Clickbait or just being candid?
First off, Kelly Stafford NEVER says she “hooked up” with this guy - just dated him (and if you watch the whole clip, the jealousy thing worked 100% with Matthew). If you’re on most social platforms you’ll see men jumping to that conclusion. Careful folks. However, this is a deeply personal story about her and Matthew that makes you wonder “is that something you should be sharing?”.

Admittedly, we’re pretty open and honest about our lives on this show (Ryan in particular is an open book, and he’ll be the first to admit it - but how much is too much).
It’s hard to be in the moment during a conversation and use that filter - but as a husband I wonder how I’d feel if my wife talked about this…am I wrong for thinking it’s harmless? I hope it is for their sake. Maybe it wasn’t the BEST way to tell the story…but it did work out in the end, right?
