For longtime fans of the King Elvis Presley, his signature shiny black pompadour is one of the most iconic signatures, "The Look." While the hairstyle changed from time to time, it was always black and slick and dark. But what many people don’t know is that Elvis Presley was blonde when he was younger.

Does Blonde Elvis Have More Fun?

Elvis started life as a little blonde. As with many blonde kids, over time, his hair naturally darkened—it was kind of a sandy blonde. However, this wasn’t enough for him, as he wanted much darker hair.

According to an article in  Country Music Nation, the star had been born with light hair but had taken to dyeing his hair to keep his particular light eyes and dark hair look. There was one film where he wore brown contacts in order to appear more Native American (Flaming Star, 1960), but his blue eyes were yet another part of his overall sex appeal and drove women crazy with the dark hair.

Old photos show him with brown hair instead of black.
