Word is out Mel Brooks long awaited sequel Spaceballs 2 The Search For Money project is a go. In a world where Hollywood hasn't had an original idea in ages. Every year we get a bland sequil or a reboot of a re-boot of a classic film and destroys the original for ever.

Mel Brooks swears he didn't mastermind a viral marketing scheme for "Spaceballs 2" by plastering posters in the NYC subway... but he couldn't be happier.

The Tease For The Movie Made The Today Show Headlines

Actor Josh Gad shared a heavily redacted script on social media, but clues appear to lead to a potential sequel to Mel Brook’s hilarious spoof of “Star Wars” called “Spaceballs.”

Mel Brooks, Who Just Turned 98, Is Determined To Get This Movie Made

Spaceballs 2 is the sequel to the classic 1987 hilarious parody of Star Wars feature. Brooks will return as its producer, with Frozen and Wolf Like Me star Josh Gad attached to star and produce. The project comes from Amazon MGM Studios, so, likely, it will eventually go right to stream Prime Video if it doesn’t solely skip a theatrical drop altogether.

What Is The Spaceballs 2 Time Line So Far?

The production was announced to be moving forward. Any further information surrounding Spaceballs 2 is being kept under lock and key at Amazon Studios. The first Spaceballs movie saw performances from legends like Rick Moranis, John Candy, Daphne Zuniga, Joan Rivers, and Bill Pullman, with Mel Brooks even popping in for two smaller parts. Look for Mel Brooks to get in the film somehow.

The Original movie was a Mel Brooks classic packed full of jokes from start to finish.

Question: Why Was There Never Any Spaceball merchandise?

None of the merchandise shown in the original movie exists because George Lucas, the creator of Star Wars, would not let Mel Brooks have any of it made, presumably because Spaceball toys would be too similar to Star Wars toys. Wonder if a deal can be struck for the new movie.

Yogurt (Mel Brooks) explains where the real money from the movie is made: merchandising!
