Legendary Irish Bar In Auburn Hills Closes
For folks who live in the Auburn Hills area, Duffy’s Pub has been a legendary Irish bar since opening in 2009. Unfortunately, last weekend was indeed the last weekend for the bar – as Duffy’s, the legendary Irish bar in Auburn Hills closes.
Losing A Local Bar Is So Much More
Duffy’s was just one of those places to go get a good burger, listen to good live music and be with your friends. I can’t imagine how hard it is for anybody in the restaurant industry right now. So when you see a story like this your heart goes out to the owners and staff, but also to the regulars who’d stop in for a beer or two and unwind after a long day at Stellantis/FCA/Chrysler.
Legendary Irish Bar in Auburn Hills Closes – but gaining a rising brand
We’ve been told that a Johnny Blacks will take over the Duffy’s Pub location on Auburn Road in Auburn Hills. Good bar food as well and they seem to get better and better when I visit the Waterford location. Looking forward to seeing what they do with the spot.
The Bottom Line – It’s Hard
I’ve got a ton of friends in the food service industry. From owners to managers and servers, they all see the impact of rising prices and labor – plus the constantly changing patterns of people going out after Covid. Feels like there’s not a week that goes by when we don’t see a restaurant going out of business. I love the local bar/restaurant – going out with my wife Kathi for dinner and conversation, just getting out of the house is so important. We were talking about working in the food service industry – I wish more people had spent time doing fast food or washing dishes to understand how hard it is (and also rewarding)…maybe we’d have more respect for these establishments and the men and women who work there (I’ll get off my soap box now)
