Best French Fries In Detroit on National French Fry Day

Today (Friday, July 12th) is National French Fry Day (get it? Fri-day) – so where are the best french fries in Detroit? Our friends at Metrotimes issued a pretty solid list of twenty options for the french fry fan. Can I recommend a couple? (and no, you don’t have to talk like Slingblade when you order them)

Who Has The Best French Fries In Detroit? Here’s a couple of suggestions

Green Dot Stables: Located in Corktown, this wonderful burger joint (all sorts of different sliders) also has the best shoestring style french fries in Detroit. The perfect combo with a table full of unique burgers. Not too salty, some folks get the truffles option (I’m not that fancy). 

American Coney Island: I’ll admit I’m an American Coney guy, and their chili cheese fries are awesome. Sometimes when I’m downtown we’ll just get a plate of fries and hang out people watching. Greatness.

Royale With Cheese: Discovered this place when my son Adam was first visiting Wayne State. The fries are ridiculously good and come with a ton of toppings (cajun, BBQ, garlic parm) – never tried the ones with brisket on them. 

Bucharest Grill: Try the curly fries. The best. I know, I’m supposed to write more about them.

Tacos aren’t only for Tuesday! Here are 5 must-try tacos in Metro-Detroit for any day of the week!

Taco Tuesday is celebrated in many homes–and rightfully so. It can give you something to look forward to on Tuesday, and having something to look forward to can really help you get through the workday. However, tacos aren’t only for Tuesday! You can enjoy them any day you choose. Here are 5 must-try tacos in Metro-Detroit that you can enjoy whenever you please.

What Are The Best Tacos In Metro-Detroit?

When it comes to tacos, everyone has their favorite. It’s one of those things where you really can’t be wrong. You could even say your favorite taco place on Earth is Taco Bell and I couldn’t find any flaw in that. However, if you’re looking for something a bit more authentic maybe fast-food isn’t the way to go. There are many other great tacos in Metro-Detroit to choose from.

When looking for the best tacos in Metro-Detroit, I had to consider a number of factors. Variety was important. I don’t want a place where you can only get ground beef. No way! The best taco places will have beef, pork, chicken, and more! You know it’s going to be good when you see unique items on the menu like “Lengua” (that’s beef tongue). That’s always a sign that they’re doing things in authentic fashion.

Additionally, I considered factors like flavor, price, and availability. I don’t want to recommend a taco that’s out of the ordinary budget, that would be lame. A good taco is something cheap that packs a punch of flavor. I’m so sick of all these new-age restaurants trying to reinvent the taco. It doesn’t need it! So, I’m sure there are awesome taco joints out there with a crazy Elote Taco or Krazy Korean Taco but that’s not what I’m looking for or talking about here. I love the Hot Chicken Taco from Honcho in Clarkston, but it won’t make the list because it isn’t traditional enough. I want it plain and simple. Give me meat, onions, and cilantro. Then, some sauce on the side for me to pour on and I’m all set. I don’t ask for much!
