High Rise Rescue and calling mom…like a boss
Think YOUR Monday sucked? Check out this high rise rescue
Jared Cooper works for a window washing company in Mobile, Alabama called Squeegee Squad. And on Monday afternoon, he was stuck dangling from the side of a building, 450 feet up. Hanging off the building, and he calls his mom. Which seemed like a good idea until she saw him on Facebook and freaked out (wouldn’t you?)
Hanging off a building – what happened?
His equipment malfunctioned while he was cleaning the windows of Alabama’s tallest building. The RSA Tower is 35 stories and 745 feet including the spire.
He was just below the 33rd floor when a piece of equipment called a “descender” locked up, so he couldn’t go up or down. He called 911, and firefighters were there within minutes.
Then since he had plenty of time on his hands, he figured why not call MOM. (editors note: some people are giving him hell for doing that…I think it’s a cool move from a very thoughtful son – and this guy was raised right).
Her name is Charlotte Hopkins. She was at work when he called, and says he was all casual about it.
He said, “Hey, Mom. I’m stuck up here on [a] ledge, waiting to see if we’ll be able to get me down.” She didn’t freak out until she saw a photo of it on Facebook.
It took the fire department about an hour to hoist him up, and he’s okay. He called it “just another day” at work and said he planned to get back up there on Tuesday to finish the job.
Now if you listen to our show on a regular basis – you know about our buddy Zach the Window Washer. This seems like the kind of thing he’d do (not the hanging off the side of a building part, the calling mom…or his lovely wife part). Such a scary job being a window washer – but ALWAYS call your mom.
