Michael Keaton discussed some details about the upcoming “Beetlejuice” sequel, insisting that the main character he plays didn’t change to accommodate the politically correct crowd.
One of his stipulations for agreeing to participate in the sequel project 36 years later was NOT to give his titular character much screen time, just like in the first film.
During a recent GQ interview, Michael Keaton said, “I think the Beetlejuice character doesn’t drive the story as much as he did in the first one. He’s more part of the storyline in this one than the first one, which is a case of this thing coming in and driving the movie a little bit.”
Beetlejuice was on screen for only 17 minutes, that's it. Keaton elaborated that Beetlejuice is an “it,” but not because of society’s obsession with pronouns.
Will Beetlejuice Stack Up To The Original 1988 Film?
Tim Burton’s upcoming Beetlejuice 2 has already had two test screenings, and most of the audience seemed to like it —but some people still hold the opposite opinion.
Though the sequel still has some chances to impress the audience, half of those attending the test screenings seemed delighted, while the other half didn’t try to conceal their disappointment.
You will be the best critic of the film. I love the timing of the movie's release. The weather will be just right for some fright films. This is one film I am looking forward to.
