How do you not love this – a long time Dallas Cowboys fan went on TikTok and asked for permission to root for the Detroit Lions.

What a crazy time for longtime Lions fans, isn’t it? Even after the stress of the first game (definitely NOT the SOL…loved the calm in the team coming back, and the old school methodical way they won in OT).
But back to the passion of being a Lions fan. We’ve never been a “front runner” – so it’s weird to see people jump on supporting the Lions. This feels different though, it’s not like cheering for a team because of a certain player…or maybe the legacy of winning (Dallas, Pittsburgh, etc). This feels more along the lines of how the country felt about the Cubs. The loveable losers who might finally turn the corner. The head coach who in a lot of ways preaches passion and love for his players, while selling 50 cent wings at Applebee’s (those commercials are still awesome).
The Detroit Lions fans chanting Jared Goff over and over at games, practices, weddings, church services and pretty much anywhere in Southeastern Detroit.
So what was this new fan’s first experience as a Lions fan like? Here’s the video:
We’ve all been there buddy. It’s a rollercoaster ride, and this year is one with higher expectations than ever. EVER. The grounded person in us tells to “don’t get too high” or “just enjoy the moment”.
To that I say, screw that. Let’s go out and win the whole damn thing. This team is as good as any in the league – the mindset of the players and coaches is one of quiet confidence and grit (yeah, I said it).
We’re hoping for the sake of our new Lions fan that the future games are easier to watch…but don’t worry about it if they’re not…it’s part of the game.
