Eddie Money’s Final Song – A Love Letter To His Wife
There was only one Eddie Money – he was part of our concert going DNA in Detroit (and Pine Knob), it’s hard to believe it’s been five years since we lost him. But it happened. Last Friday, September 13th, marked the fifth anniversary of the death of Eddie Money. To commemorate the anniversary, his wife Laurie released his last recorded song, “Stay With Me.”
She says, “This song is about a tough time in our relationship many years ago, written from Eddie’s perspective. I knew that he’d talked about working on this song, but I didn’t know that he’d completed his vocals on it, what the song was about, or even that it existed until nine months after he passed, when it was given to me by our friend who worked on it with him.
Eddie Never Heard The Final Song
“Eddie never heard the finished song, but I know that he would’ve been very pleased with it and happy that it’s finally being released.
“When I first heard ‘Stay With Me,’ it made me cry, and still does each time that I hear his voice singing the beautiful and very meaningful words. I know that he’d hope that this song could also mean something special to others who go thru challenging times in their relationships.
“Our love story was successful because we both truly loved each other, and because we BOTH wanted it to work, for ourselves and also for our family. We knew that we were better together than apart, even when things weren’t perfect. It wasn’t always easy for either of us, but in the end, true love really does conquer all.
“Eddie was the best friend that I’ve ever had, and I’m so thankful that I can still hear his voice every day, especially saying the words ‘Stay With Me’, which I’m so glad that I did.”
“Stay With Me” is now available on all streaming platforms.
Eddie Money was 70 when he passed from complications associated with a heart valve procedure he’d had a few months earlier.
