No-quit Tigers rally to beat Royals, narrow Twins' lead to 1 1/2 games. Down by four runs twice to an All-Star pitcher who has not only beaten them twice this season, allowing a run in 15 innings, but also running second or third to Tarik Skubal in the American League Cy Young race – pretty stiff challenge.

How Many Comeback Games So Far This Year?

Amazing 34th comeback win, coupled with the Minnesota Twins’ 4-3 loss in Cleveland, it moves them to within 1 1/2 games of the final wild-card spot. Let's hope I didn't just jinx them now but I will never shut the TV off early again this season.

The Detroit Tigers fell behind by four runs on a grand slam by Kansas City Royals superstar Bobby Witt Jr. in the third inning, but they little by little caught up in the middle innings.

Tigers scored one run in the fourth, three in the fifth, and three in the sixth. Tigers received key help hits from Colt Keith, Wenceel Pérez, and Matt Vierling.

The Tigers beat the Royals, 7-6, in Monday's three-game series opener away at Kauffman Stadium.

What Are The Tigers Chances Rest Of The Season?

The Detroit Tigers have an uphill challenge to make the postseason.

Not many people expected the Detroit Tigers to be in the hunt for a postseason spot in mid-September. But, with 12 games remaining in their season, they are only 1.5 games behind the Minnesota Twins for the final wild-card spot in the American League.

Their record speaks for itself: 38-25, the best in the AL, providing the background of a story you would normally see in an ESPN 30 for 30 Doc. This is a scrappy team exceeding expectations, looking to defy all the odds facing them.

Tigers' Thoughts on the last 10 games

Their odds for a playoff spot were massively boosted when they won two out of three games against the Baltimore Orioles.

The road certainly won’t be easy. Detroit will close out the regular season with a series against the Kansas City Royals, Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays, and Chicago White Sox.
