Ready To Tour Michigan Central Station? New Dates Are Out!
If you haven’t been to Michigan Central Station in Corktown, you’re missing out on one of the most beautiful buildings/areas in Detroit brought back to life. Standing in Roosevelt Park looking at the station, people walking around, the bike paths full of folks enjoying the day, cars cruising up and down Michigan Ave. slowing to come visit. It’s a genuinely inspiring place – and now you can tour it (with a special peek).
Michigan Central Station – Tour Details
First off – the tours are being offered in partnership with Detroit History Tours and start on Oct. 8.
Experts will show you around – talking about the building’s history, restoration, and next chapter. A purchased ticket will allow participants through the station’s ground floor and areas inaccessible to the general public. click here for more ticket info – tickets are $20 per person.
But wait – there’s more. A new restaurant!
Yellow Light Coffee and Donuts, a coffee shop on Detroit’s east side, will open its second location on Michigan Central’s east entrance.
“Offering our in-house roasted coffee, scratch-made doughnuts and biscuit sandwiches to Corktown and Southwest is beyond exciting for our growth in Detroit,” said co-owner Christine Driscoll in a news release. “We’re also humbled that we will be part of this newest chapter in The Station’s history starting this fall.”
Bottom Line – Go See It
It’s hard to explain the vibe at Michigan Central Station. You’ve just got head to Corktown and check it out. I was honored to be a host of the Cars and The Station event recently, meeting men and women from all over the world who’ve come to Detroit not only for the auto industry, but to celebrate the culture of collaboration that exists when you see this station (and NewLab next door – an amazing place all on it’s own).
Take a moment this fall and check it out. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
