Tigers Fight For A Wild Card Spot Before October

Sports talk experts all but gave up on the Tigers back in July. Like a force of habit, most talking head so-called experts wrote the Tigers off and had hopes for next season. Now, they must eat all their words for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The Tigers are fighting for their playoff dreams this year with a "No Quit" mentality.

The Detroit Tigers in Sunday's series finale against the Baltimore Orioles, as the 27-year-old slugger Kerry Carpenter crushed two home runs for the third time this season and the fifth time in his three-year MLB career.

The Tigers fended off the Orioles in the final four innings for a 4-3 win in Sunday's finale, taking two of three games in the series.

The Tigers 82-74, winners in 27 of their past 38 games — moved half a game ahead of the Minnesota Twins for the third spot in the American League wild-card race.

For the first time in a decade, the Tigers are within striking distance of making the playoffs. Their playoff chances were 2% back in July. Now, the team is the best in baseball, and they are not quitting.

Lions Bounce Back To Win After Last Week's Ruff Loss

One statistic the Lions have is the most wins by a team after a loss the previous week.

Jared Goff threw two touchdown passes, David Montgomery ran for 106 yards and a score, and the Detroit Lions held on late to beat the Arizona Cardinals 20-13 on Sunday.

The Lions were fun to watch but kept you on the edge of your seat at times. Coach Campbell surprised us once again. Last week, it was the fake punt pass. This week, a fun catch and ball pitch to another player kept us entertained. Once again, going for it on 4th down doesn't always work, but don't say that to the coach.

Goff completed his first 14 passes before an incompletion in the third quarter. It was his longest streak without an incompletion to start a game in his nine-year career, and he finished 18 of 23 for 196 yards.

Dan Campbell wants a Lions Super bowl more than anyone.

Red Wings Training Camp Is Now Underway

The Detroit Red Wings have a number of factors to consider this season, including acquiring goaltender Gage Alexander from the Anaheim Ducks and signing forwards Tyler Motte and Joe Snively to one-year contracts.

The Red Wings have a sense of urgency and the potential to compete for the playoffs. Yzerman said the team can compete if it stays healthy, has good goaltending, and produces unexpected performances.

Kane is back and might have another level to reach this season after a whole summer of training.

The Training Camp roster this year features 68 players, including 37 forwards, 22 defensemen, and nine goalies. With several key pieces returning and a mix of young and new faces, captain Dylan Larkin said everyone’s excited to get back to work.

Maybe this is the year the Yezerplan takes effect.

Pistons Have No Where To Go But Up This Year.

The Detroit Pistons' outlook for the 2024-25 season is optimistic; it is always every year, with some analysts predicting they can avoid a last-place finish and make real strides to improve. Will they be a contender? Stranger things happen. Hopefully, we finally get out of this year-to-year rut we have been in.

Sports Illustrated predicts the Pistons will win a whopping 23 games, a nine-win improvement from last season.

My glass is half full and predict some more wins this season and for this team to gel a bit better. Who knows. It is all up from here. Go Pistons!
