National Pancake Day – Best Pancakes In Michigan
Today (Thursday Sept. 26th) is National Pancake Day . . . or, one of them at least. IHOP observes one around Mardi Gras each year. But there’s randomly another one on September 26th – and that’s what we’re celebrating today. But where do you go for great pancakes (admittedly, I’m not a real pancake connoisseur…but I love ‘em). Would you be willing to drive to Muskegon for pancakes? Here’s why.
Best pancakes in Michigan – according to the Food Network
So according to our friends at the Food Network, the best pancakes can be found at Toast ‘N Jams in Muskegon. What did they say about it:
“Diners flock to this 1950s-inspired eatery for hearty breakfast fare dished out in nostalgic environs. The interior, which is filled with old-fashioned decor centered around Route 66, includes a wall-to-wall mural inspired by the historic roadway. Each dish represents a different stop on Route 66, like the Amarillo-inspired BBQ burger. And while the lunch menu is certainly worth a look, Toast ‘N Jams, as you might guess by the name, is famous for its breakfast plates. Keep it classic with the banana-nut or blueberry pancakes, and be sure to check your guilt at the door before ordering the thickly iced Cinnamon Roll Pancakes. One of Toast ‘N Jams’ most-requested creations, the Strawberry Cheesecake Pancakes are cooked until golden brown and topped with a sweet strawberry-cream cheese blend.”
Road Trip anyone?
More National Pancake Day stats
First off, when it comes to pancakes in movies – I found a couple of scenes…in Pulp Fiction they’re eating pancakes at breakfast…and Ray wants pancakes on Tuesday, right? But the BEST pancake scene has to be the Uncle Buck pancake:
More pancake research? A poll for it found just 7% of Americans don’t like pancakes. That includes 2% who passionately HATE them.
The most popular types are buttermilk, blueberry pancakes, and chocolate chip.
No real deals to speak of this time, but Holiday Inn Express is offering one VERY random product for it.
They teamed up with the clothing brand Mr. Eatwell for a line of “Pancakesuits” . . . a hoodie-and-sweats combo with a built-in pancake-warming pouch. (???)
If you love pancakes so much you want to carry them around in your pockets, they’re $100 at MrEatwell.com.
