Can the Tigers win it all? The answer is YES

Why not the Detroit Tigers this year - here's my five reasons why (published before the playoffs began)

1. The Young Guns Are Stepping Up

When you watch the young talent like Riley Greene, Parker Meadows and Wenceel Perez  patrolling the outfield, and the renewed confidence of Spencer Torkelson at first base, throw in Colt Keith, plus Matt Vierling as a stabilizing force and you quickly realize there’s a TON of talent on the field and youthful energy in the postseason is contagious.

2. Pitching Rotation Is Clicking

A strong rotation is crucial in the postseason, and Detroit has the number one starter in baseball with Tarik Skubal. Don’t think that matters? He’ll come into the playoffs healthy and fired up – plus his stuff is actually getting BETTER as the season progresses. Plus watch Reese Olson continue to bloom, get Montero eating innings and the return of Casey Mize. Pitching matters. Tigers have it.

3. A Dominant Bullpen

So much of playoff baseball is about getting into the opposing teams bullpen. Bring it on. Jason Foley, Tyler Holton, Will Vest, Hunter, Jackson Jobe (don’t sleep on him – these hitters haven’t seen him…a real problem). The Tigers can go up against any bullpen in baseball right now.

4. AJ Hinch’s Mastermind Management

Just like players get on a hot streak, so do managers. AJ Hinch is making all the right moves and this young team believes in him. He won’t let them simply be excited about being IN the playoffs, he’ll keep pushing and get the best out of them.

5. The “Cinderella Story” Vibe

Every great World Series run has that underdog team that shocks everyone, and Detroit has the potential to be that story. Is there a better story in baseball than the Tigers? (I’m waiting for the New York Times to write an article about the Tigers and the rebirth of Detroit…you know it’s coming). Did anyone REALLY think Texas would win it all last year? It can happen.

Is it a long shot? Maybe. But in baseball, miracles happen when talent, timing, and momentum collide—this could be the Tigers year!
