Rock and roll fans saw cracks in Guns and Rose's foundation when the band opened for the Rolling Stones on October 18th, 1996.

Listen at the 1:10:45 mark when Axl Says this is my last show

Guns and Roses opened for the Rolling Stones at the L.A. Coliseum. You would think that would be a highlight for any band. But that night, Axl said on stage." If the band didn't get their s*** together, it would be the last Bleep show you will ever see Guns and Roses.

Slash Decides To Exit The Band

Slash left Guns N' Roses in late  October 1996. He cited several reasons for his departure, including:

Creative differences: Slash and Axl Rose were unable to collaborate on an album

Personal differences: Slash had creative and personal differences with Paul Tobias

Slash was frustrated by Rose's frequent lateness to concerts and alleged legal manipulation to gain control of the band

Slash was also affected by the departures of Steven Adler and Izzy Stradlin

Slash Goes On Larry King Live To Give His Reasons

Axl Rose wanted to reform Guns N Roses, and Slash did not want to go with that configuration. Here is an outtake of an interview with the legendary Larry King. I asked Slash to join, and they answered after 24 hours, I AM DONE!

Axl Tells Fans On Halloween The News

On Oct. 31, 1996, Axl Rose ended months of speculation by confirming Guns N' Roses guitarist Slash had left the lineup.

In my opinion, getting out of that toxic environment possibly saved Slash's life. Slash went on to do his own thing with the band "Slash's Snake Pit," which features Matt Sorum and Gilby Clarke, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, and former Jellyfish member Eric Dover on lead vocals.

After Snake Pit Slash put his efforts into Velvet Revolver.

Time Heals Almost All Wounds

After much speculation and rumors, fans finally got almost the reunion they wished for when Slash and McKagan returned to the lineup for GNR's Not in This Lifetime tour in 2016.

This new version of the band has continued touring together, and even an album some said would never come out. Chinese Democracy was finally released.

Slash Has Continued To Say They Are Working On New Material

In May 2024, Slash said that the band was "trying" to make a new album. Let us hope they don't take as long as the last album.
