Scott Randall/ WCSXGood News for McDonald Mc Flurry fans. Could a court ruling fix McDonald's notorious broken McFlurry machines?
Believe it or not, McDonald's franchises haven't been able to fix their soft-serve ice cream machines. All because McDonald's has a contract that specifies only one company to work on them. Taylor Manufacturing owns the copyrights and exclusive rights to fix the machines—until now.
A New Court Ruling Will Change Things
BrianAJackson/ Getty ImagesThe US Copyright Office just granted an exemption that finally gives McDonald's restaurant franchises the "Right to Repair." The broken machines have been the butt of jokes and fan frustration for many years. Waiting in a long drive-thru line only to get up to the drive-thru menu and be told the shake machine is down.
Why Are The Shake Machines Always Down?
Why is the McDonald’s shake machine always broken when you crave that triple-thick shake and wait in the drive-thru lane? You get up to the call speaker and ask for a milkshake, only to be told the shake machine is down.
Frustration sets in as you wait in line, only to be disappointed. That goes the same if you are in the mood for a McFlurry treat at McDonald’s.
Is There's An App Out There To Help You?
Check Out, " McBroken." A good friend told me about a great app that helps him save time to get refreshment and joy. McBroken is an app that lets you know, in real-time, whether the Shake machine at the McDonald’s near you is working or is out of order. McBroken was created by software engineer Rashiq Zahid.
How Does The McBroken App Work?
The app lets you know when a shake machine is down in real time. It uses reverse engineering on the McDonald’s app to currently place an order worth $18,752 every minute at every McDonald’s in the United States to determine which locations have broken ice cream machines.
It’s pretty genius if you ask me.
