Detroit Lions Foundation Matched $100,000 in Donations for Alternatives for Girls

The Detroit Lions Foundation is matching all donations up to $100,000 for Alternatives For Girls in a two-week fundraising blitz. This powerhouse campaign aligned perfectly with the team’s third My Cause My Cleats initiative.

To honor its 175-year history, Comerica Bank had kicked things off with a bold $17,500 donation, stacking onto previous campaigns that had already funneled an impressive $400,000 into Detroit charities.

And on December 5th, as the Lions clashed with Green Bay, their players stormed the field in custom cleats, each pair dedicated to a chosen charity. This wasn’t just about football; it was part of a larger, community-driven NFL outreach effort.

Every Lions first down wasn’t just a stat—it was a moment of impact. Comerica Bank’s innovative scoring initiative had already generated $148,000 for local organizations, boldly reinforcing the bank’s deep commitment to Detroit’s communities.

A Legacy of Transforming Lives

For 35 years, Alternatives For Girls had been a lifeline. They transformed lives by providing at-risk young women with shelter, education opportunities, and essential support.

And Comerica Bank? Since 2020, they’d stepped up in a big way, contributing an incredible $146,000 to the cause.

But this wasn’t their first rodeo. Before backing Alternatives For Girls, Comerica had supported life-changing programs like the Pure Heart Foundation and Family Assistance for Renaissance Men, driving forward the Lions’ broader NFL Inspire Change initiative.

This wasn’t just about donations—it was about action. It was about community. It was about changing lives.

Matt’s been in the media game his whole life. He kicked things off at WOVI, his high school station in Novi, MI, then hit the airwaves at Impact 89FM while at Michigan State. But after realizing he didn’t quite have the voice for radio, he made the jump to TV—spending 23 years working for CBS, FOX, and NEWSnet. Now, he’s come full circle, back in radio as Detroit’s Digital Program Director, making noise behind the scenes and keeping things running strong online.
