Giant Carrots and Giving Back: WCSX Heads to Ann Arbor
🎸 Buckle up for another Rockin’ Road Trip with 94.7 WCSX! 🎸
This time, we’re cruising into the heart of Ann Arbor, Michigan, and making a pit stop at One Carrot Way. Yep, you read that right – Carrot Way. But these aren’t your average snack-sized veggies. Nope, even the Easter Bunny would need a moment to tackle these GIANT CARROTS standing proudly before Food Gatherers.
These oversized orange sculptures aren’t just eye-catching art—there’s a powerful story behind them.
What is Food Gatherers?
Food Gatherers has fed the community since 1988 when it became Michigan’s first-ever food rescue. What’s the difference between a food rescue and a food bank, you ask?
- Food rescues: They scoop up surplus food before it goes bad and get it to people in need.
- Food banks: They collect and distribute fresh food and pantry staples to the community.
Here’s the cool part—Food Gatherers do BOTH. And they’re making a massive impact.
Last year, they raised nearly 10 MILLION POUNDS of food for people in Washtenaw County. That’s a LOT of meals, my friends!
How can YOU help?
Food Gatherers is always looking for volunteers to join their mission of fighting hunger and creating a stronger community. Whether you want to donate time, money, or food, every little bit helps.
Check them out at foodgatherers.org to see how you can make a difference.
So, swing by One Carrot Way the next time you’re in Ann Arbor. Snap a selfie with the giant carrots, and remember the incredible work being done behind the scenes by Food Gatherers.
