The Doobie Brothers Announce New Album’ Walk This Road’
The Doobie Brothers are making a big return this year with a brand-new album titled Walk This Road, which will be released on June 6, 2025.
Featuring the Reunited Lineup
What makes this album so unique is the reunion of the Doobie Brothers’ classic lineup, featuring Patrick Simmons, Tom Johnston, John McFee, and Michael McDonald. Produced by the renowned John Shanks, who also worked on their 2021 album Liberte, Walk This Road promises to be a milestone in their musical catalog.
Although he was “with” the band during their last album, he did not appear on the record. However, this new release marks McDonald’s official return to contributing original material since the 1980s One Step Closer. McDonald said about the experience, “Getting back in with the guys and playing again is great. In my heart, I’ve always been a Doobie Brother. We’ve all remained friends over the years and have been enjoying this tremendously, even more than we thought we would.”
New Songs Are Out Now
While the entire album won’t drop until June, fans can already taste what’s to come. The title track, “Walk This Road,” features the legendary Mavis Staples as a guest artist, adding a soulful element bound to resonate with listeners. Another new song, “Call Me,” is also available now, giving fans two tracks to enjoy while counting down the days until the full release.
Tom Johnston expressed his excitement about experimenting with new sounds, saying, “We all sang on ‘Walk This Road.’ That’s a different kind of track for us to do. I think it’s good to try to do things you haven’t done before—that’s the way it should be.”
