5 Notorious Rock Hall Induction No-Shows

The punk icons refused to attend their induction in 2006 in protest of the exorbitant cost for acts to attend, which can be upwards of tens of thousands of dollars per table.  They did, however, send a note, which contained the intro, “Next to the Sex Pistols, rock and roll and that Hall of Fame is a piss stain.” It was read out loud by ‘Rolling Stone’ founder/Rock Hall Board Member Jann Wenner to the delight of the crowd in attendance.

All but one of the surviving members of the Sex Pistols will return to the Fillmore Detroit on Oct. 4. The performance will be the first time the group has performed under the name Sex Pistols since a 1996 concert took place at the Cobo Arena.

Tickets for the Fillmore Detroit performance will go on sale at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 4. Presale registration is open now.

The Fillmore Detroit performance is one of 13 cities on the North American tour commemorating the band's 1977 album and the 50th anniversary of its founding. The Sex Pistols toured the United Kingdom last year and plan to tour Europe and Australia.

According to a Detroit Free Press report, guitarist Steve Jones, bassist Glen Matlock, and drummer Paul Cook will be joined by 40-year-old punk veteran Frank Carter for the concerts. Each will feature a performance of “Never Mind the Bollocks, Here's the Sex Pistols” in its entirety.

Johnny Rotten, founding singer of the Sex Pistols, fell out with the group during the production of a 2022 television biodrama. He has criticized the group's touring shows, calling them "karaoke" and a quick grab at cash.
