September 11th Rememberances

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – SEPTEMBER 11: Flowers and flags are seen on the names of victims of the 9/11 terror attack on the South Tower reflecting pool during the annual 9/11 Commemoration Ceremony at the National 9/11 Memorial and Museum on September 11, 2025 in New York City. Local and national government officials joined family, friends, and first responders as they gathered at Ground Zero honoring the lives of their loved ones on the 24th anniversary of the terror attacks of September 11, 2001, at the World Trade Center. Communities across Metro Detroit will unite tonight to honor those lost in the September 11 attacks. The day marks 24 years since that tragic morning. Among the victims, 42 had roots in Michigan.

From 8:15 a.m. in Romulus, The Home Depot Foundation joins forces with ToolBank USA. Workers will pause their tasks at 8:46 a.m. - the exact time the first strike hit New York. A hundred hands will craft benches and tables, giving back to Detroit's groups in need.

Later in the morning, Clinton Township's Resurrection Cemetery will be filled with the sounds of tribute. Starting at 10 a.m., local police stand guard while Vietnam vets present colors. The public can join this solemn tribute on Clinton River Road.

As afternoon comes, Pontiac's Michigan Fallen Heroes Memorial takes center stage. The Oakland County Sheriff's team will add fresh inscriptions - names of Michigan's Heroes. This tribute starts at 2 p.m. on Telegraph Road.

Rochester Hills opens its fire station doors from 9 to 11 in the morning. The crew welcomes neighbors to stand with them at their Horizon Court base.

These local tributes mirror countless others nationwide. Each year, they keep the story alive for those too young to remember that September morning. They shine light on the brave souls who ran toward danger, never to return.
