A major push to bring music to Detroit students, the "Play it Forward" campaign, kicks off this fall. WDIV, the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, and Detroit Harmony will run an instrument collection drive on October 15, 2025. Students across the city wait for a chance to pick up an instrument and start their musical path.
From 6 a.m. to 6 p.m., staff will welcome donations at their Cass Avenue location. Their mission: put quality instruments and music training within reach of every student in Detroit.
Want to give? Head to 3632 Cass Avenue. Just keep in mind - they won't accept pianos this time around.
Can't spare an instrument? No problem. The Symphony's website now takes cash gifts. Each dollar helps fund music lessons for kids who dream of playing.
This drive marks the latest chapter in WDIV's "Go 4 It" work in the community. Each month brings a fresh focus on local needs.
