Detroit's skyline changed forever when construction crews wrapped up the 12-story office section at 1240 Woodward Avenue - the Hudson's Tower - on October 9, as reported by Fox2. This marks a turning point in the decade-long Hudson's project, which will soon welcome General Motors as the company leaves its Renaissance Center home.

Inside, workers put final touches on a striking seven-story atrium filled with spots to dine and unwind. Three businesses—ROCK, ALO, and Tecovas—will move in first, setting up shop in the fresh space.

Below ground, there is parking and a place to play. Higher up, the structure connects to a soaring 45-story tower that's still being built. Construction crews keep pushing upward, adding floors week by week.

Come November 2025, city dwellers will gather at Nick Gilbert Way—a new public space stretching from busy Woodward Avenue to quiet Farmer Street. This spot pays tribute to Bedrock founder Dan Gilbert's son, who passed away.

Music will fill the air as bands take the stage. Artists will show their work. Each morning, the smell of fresh coffee and warm pastries will drift from a Café Sous Terre food truck, bringing a taste of France to the downtown core.

This spot holds special meaning—it's where the grand J.L. Hudson store once stood. Now, steel and glass rise up, referencing Detroit's heritage and signaling its bright future. Since breaking ground in 2015, workers have shaped this vision piece by piece.

By 2026, townies and tourists alike will be sipping drinks high above the streets at a rooftop bar and event space. The final facets will shine in 2027, when hotel rooms and homes in the sky complete the high-rise that adds new splendor to Detroit's skyline.
