Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne counties claimed 12 spots among the state's 20 worst intersections. Ingham County grabbed three. Ottawa County snagged two, while Washtenaw, Kent, and Isabella counties each took one.

N. Hamilton Street and Washtenaw Avenue in Ypsilanti racked up 117 crashes during 2024, as per Mlive. This made it Michigan's most perilous intersection, per Michigan Traffic Crash Facts. The runner-up logged 90 crashes—a difference of 27.

Statewide, 288,880 crashes happened across all roads in 2024. This ticked up from 2023 numbers.

Second place went to 18 1/2 Mile Road meeting S. M-53 and Van Dyke Avenue in Macomb County—90 crashes total. E. Saginaw Street and N. Homer Street in Ingham County landed third with 57.

Baldwin Street intersecting Cottonwood Drive in Ottawa County took fourth place, recording 47 crashes. Fifth went to Martin Parkway, where it meets N. Pontiac Trail and S. M-5 in Oakland County, with 45.

Four Macomb County intersections cracked the top 20. Three of those broke into the top 11. Wayne County placed four locations on the roster, as did Oakland County.

Deaths from traffic incidents climbed a bit last year. Alcohol-related crashes dropped, but those involving drugs increased throughout Michigan.

Crashes involving bicycles surged 20% in 2024. This spike raised alarms about cyclist protection on state roadways.

Three intersections tied at the list's bottom with 37 crashes apiece: E. Broomfield Road and S. Mission Road in Isabella County, Middle Belt Road and Schoolcraft Road in Wayne County, plus E. Grand River Avenue and the Grand River/N. U.S. 127 ramp and Homer Street in Ingham County.

Information about 2025 crashes won't reach the public until summer 2026. Michigan releases crash statistics through Michigan Traffic Crash Facts once analysts finish checking and confirming the numbers.
