Local Independent Record Store Gets Ready for Record Store Day

Record Store Day is set for April 18th, 2026. Local Independent Store Slick Disc in Trenton is getting ready for all the fun.

Usually, the third Saturday in April. (RSD) is an annual, worldwide event held on the third Saturday of April (April 18, 2026) to celebrate independent record stores. Founded in 2007, it brings together fans, artists, and thousands of indie shops to promote physical music through exclusive, limited-edition vinyl/CD releases, in-store performances, and special events.

Slick Disc is an independent record store located at 1625 West Rd in Trenton, Michigan, operating since 1990. They specialize in new and used vinyl, CDs, cassettes, DVDs, and music-related merchandise like t-shirts and posters. Known for its welcoming atmosphere, it is a Record Store Day outlet and celebrates new releases every Friday. 

Owner Rob Slykerman is amazed by RSD's popularity as vinyl collectors wait in long lines, with some even camping out the night before. Slick Dics, more than the corporate stores. RSD 2026 on April 18 features highly anticipated, limited-edition releases from major artists, including a Peter Gabriel "Sledgehammer" zoetrope picture disc, new music from 

Bruno Mars (2026 Ambassador), a long-awaited Slipknot project, and archival recordings from Pink Floyd and Talking Heads. Other key releases include Weezer, Pavement, and Sonic Youth.

Also, a Billy Squire Capitol release, a Live Van Halen record, and many more.
