Birmingham has kicked off a sticker design contest for residents. The winner gets their artwork printed on "I Voted" stickers during August's state primary and November's general elections. People can send in their work through May 4, 2026 using Engage Birmingham, the city's public platform.
Residents submit designs at bhamgov.org/stickercontest or engage.bhamgov.org/i-voted-sticker-contest. Rules are posted at these web pages. All entries must use the official template entry that's posted on Engage Birmingham.
Four age groups can enter: kindergarten through 8 years, kids aged 9-12 years, teens from 13-17 years, and adults 18 and older. Parents can send in designs their children made, but each artist gets only one entry.
"We're excited to see the creativity and clever designs from our residents," said Birmingham City Clerk Alexandria Bingham to Oakland County Times. "Designs must be nonpartisan, include the phrase 'I Voted', and may be created using the artist's preferred method, such as crayons, markers, colored pencils, paint, etc."
Bingham explained the contest wants to get people thinking about the elections while making it fun. Artists can draw, paint, or color however they want—crayons, markers, colored pencils, watercolors, whatever works.
Community voting happens from May 11 through June 15. Winners in each group will have their designs printed on real stickers that voters receive at polling locations during the Aug. 4 and Nov. 3, 2026 elections while supplies last.
Winners get their names in city publications. They also receive a stack of stickers with their design on it. Every submission has to stay nonpartisan and must include the phrase "I Voted" or it won't count.
