According to WXYZ, if you ordered your tests last week, they should be arriving sooner than the original shipping date. However, make sure you bring them in as soon as possible. The tests are not in super-protective packaging and cannot withstand the extreme cold for longer than 24 hours. "What most of the companies are saying is that it's ok if the test is left beyond those temperatures," Medical Director of Community Health at Beaumont Grosse Pointe Dr. Asha Shahjahan said. "Just a few hours, the maximum is 24 hours." Dr. Asha says this about the tests if left out for too long: "The sensitivity and specificity of the test can drop and vary depending on what temperature it's in," she said. She also says to bring them back to room temperature before using them for maximum effectiveness.
