July 12th through August 16th, 2019.
Thursday June 28th, 2019
The winning bands will also perform at the Rockin' Wars finale party at
Granite City in the GM Renaissance Center on June 28.

WCSX-FM ROCKIN WARS: CONTEST
These rules apply to WCSX Rockin Wars: Contest (“Contest”) conducted by Beasley Media Group, LLC d/b/a WCSX (“Station”). In addition, the General Contest Rules posted at www.wcsx.com apply to this Contest. If there is a conflict between the General Contest Rules and the Rules for this Contest, the Rules for this Contest shall control.
1. HOW TO ENTER
a. The Contest will begin on Monday, May 13, 2019 and end on Friday, June 21, 2019.
c. Bands must be in the Rock, Classic Rock genre. Each entry must include a link to one (1) video (“Video Entry”) of an original video of the entrant’s band or solo act performing and singing an original song (or portion of a song) of their choice or one (1) song from the Station’s playlist including artists such as: Bob Seger, Aerosmith, Van Halen, Eagles, Rolling Stones etc… Entrant must have the right to submit the Video Entry. Each entrant must agree to the online submission release in order to submit his or her Video Entry link. When providing a link, it is the entrant’s responsibility to ensure the Video Entry link is set to “public” so that Station personnel can view it at the time of judging. Station is not responsible for any Video Entry links that are removed, faulty or disabled after the Video Entry link is submitted.
d. The Station, in its sole discretion, reserves the right to disqualify any entrant if such entrant’s associated Video Entry or other content contains illegal, indecent, pornographic or sexually explicit content or otherwise offensive material such as graphic violence or if such Video Entry or other content contains any nudity or content deemed at the Station’s discretion to be unsuitable for public display or posting on the Station’s website. Entries that do not comply with these rules will not be eligible for the Contest. Video Entries may be posted on the Station’s website at www.wcsx.com and by submitting a Video Entry, entrant (1) certifies that he or she has all rights necessary to use the images and music contained in their Video Entry including the express permission of every person who appears in or can be heard in the Video Entry, and (2) grants Station permission to post, embed and/or link to their Video Entry on www.wcsx.com and to use the Video Entry for Contest and other promotional purposes. Station reserves the right to remove from any website and disqualify any entrant if it believes the Video Entry violates the rights of any third party or is otherwise inappropriate for public viewing.
e. Entrants may submit only one (1) Video Entry per band/artist during the Entry Period. Incomplete, multiple and/or duplicate entries by the same or multiple entrants/bands will be disqualified. Valid entries must contain all information requested. Entrant further understands that the use and exploitation of the Video Entry link may subject him/her to risk of notoriety, publicity, ridicule, scorn and/or indignity.
f. No member of any band may be signed to a fully executed major record label contract that guarantees the release of 1 or more albums/CDs. All members of the band must be 18 years of age or older. If the right of the entrant to submit the Video Entry or the right of the Station to link to the website containing the video is contested by a third party claiming infringement of their rights, Station reserves the right to remove the link from its site and disqualify the entrant/band from further participation in the Contest in the Station’s sole and absolute discretion.
g. There will be up to a total of twenty four (24) Semi-Finalist bands, ten (10) Finalist bands and six (6) Grand Prize-winning bands selected in the Contest.
2. ELIGIBILITY RESTRICTIONS (APPLIES TO ALL BAND MEMBERS)
a. This Contest is open to all Station listeners who are 18 years of age or older as of the date of entry into the Contest, who are legal US residents and reside in the Detroit Metro Area, consisting of the following Michigan counties: Lenawee, Monroe, Wayne, Washtenaw, Jackson, Hillsdale, Ingham, Livingston, Oakland, Macomb, St. Clair, Lapeer, Genesee, and Shiawassee; and the following Ohio Counties: Lucas, Fulton, and Williams, except where prohibited by law. All band members must possess a valid, government-issued ID and show proof of residency to verify eligibility.
a. Up to six (6) Grand Prizes will be awarded. Each Grand Prize consists of the opportunity for the winning band/musician to perform a thirty (30) minute performance at one (1) of the WCSX Rockin’ on The River Front concerts being held on Fridays from July 12, 2019 through August 16, 2019 at the GM Renaissance Center in Detroit, Michigan. There is no cash or other retail value associated with the Grand Prize. No cash compensation will be paid to the winning band(s).
b. Exact performance date and time for each Grand Prize-winning band will be decided by the Station in its sole discretion. Winning band/musician must be able to perform on the date and at the time specified by the Station. Other performance criteria will be discussed in advance of the performance. The Grand Prize-winning bands or musicians may be highlighted on air and on the 94.7 WCSX Rockin Wars webpage. The Station will provide mutually agreed upon sound, lighting and backline and will have sound company touch base with all winning bands prior to performance to ensure all reasonable needs are met. Performance not to exceed twenty (20) minutes in duration. All other costs not specifically stated herein, including but not limited to those of equipment, instruments, parking, travel, accommodations, and any other expenses not specifically mentioned herein are not included and are solely the winning band’s responsibility. Band members and crew must abide by all venue policies. The Station reserves the right to revoke part of or the full prize from any band member or band member’s crew who Station or venue personnel deem, in their sole discretion, to be intoxicated, be a safety risk, or have violated any venue policy or law, or may bring any Contest party into disrepute. If band is unable or unwilling to perform on the date and time specified, the Grand Prize will be forfeited and may be awarded to an alternate band. Band members understand that there are inherent risks involved in performing on stage and in front of a crowd, and that these risks may be present before, during and after the performance. The Station is not responsible for changes in schedule of any element of the prize, to include but not limited to show cancellation or postponement, or for any expenses incurred as a consequence of changes. If a prize-related event is unable to take place as scheduled, for reasons such as cancellation, preemption, postponement or unavailability, including for weather, or for any reason beyond the control of the Station, the Station’s sole responsibility to the winner(s) will be to award the remaining available elements of the prize(s) and no substitution or compensation will be provided for the unawarded elements of the prize(s).
4. SELECTION OF WINNERS
a. Up to twenty-four (24) “Semi-Finalist” bands will be selected via Station judging as follows:
On or about May 31, 2019 at approximately 10:00am ET, up to twenty-four (24) “Semi-Finalist” bands will be selected by a panel of Station judges from all eligible Video Entries received during the Online Entry Period. Semi-Finalists bands will be selected in the sole discretion of the Station judges, based on the following judging criteria: sound, vocal quality, and overall style, performance and presentation in the sole and absolute discretion of the Station judges. Semi-Finalist bands will be notified of their selection by telephone and/or email promptly following the judging period. There is no prize associated with being selected as a Semi-Finalist band.
b. Up to ten (10) Finalist bands will be selecting via public voting as follows:
The video link of each of the twenty-four (24) “Semi-Finalist” bands will be uploaded to the Station website and will be placed on the Contest designated voting page for Round One public voting beginning at 3:00pm ET on May 31, 2019 and ending at 10:00am ET on June 14, 2019. Listeners are permitted to submit one vote per person per day during each Voting Period. The ten (10) bands who receive the most votes will be deemed “Finalist” bands and be included in Round Two of voting. In case of a tie, Station judges will decide in their own discretion using the judging criteria described above what band will move to Round Two. Finalist bands will be notified of their selection by telephone and/or email promptly following the Round One voting period. There is no prize associated with being deemed a Finalist band.
c. Up to six (6) Grand Prize-winning bands will be selected via Station judging and public voting as follows:
The video link of each of the ten (10) Finalists bands will be uploaded to the Station website and will be placed on the Contest designated voting page for Round Two public voting beginning at 6:00pm ET on June 14, 2019 and ending at 10:00am ET on June 21, 2019. On June 21, 2019 at approximately 3:00pm ET, up to six (6) “Grand Prize-winning” bands will be selected by the Station judges based on the judging criteria described above and the number of votes received during the voting period. Voting will be taken into account but may not be determinative. Grand Prize-winning bands will be announced on the Station and posted on the “Rockin’ Wars” web page located at www.wcsx.com. Grand Prize-winning bands will also be notified by telephone and/or email promptly following the judging/voting period.
d. Grand Prize-winning bands must agree to appear at a congratulations pre-Rockin’ On The River Front party at Granite City in the GM Renaissance Center 100 Renaissance Center, Suite 1101, Detroit, MI 48243 on Friday June 28, 2019 at approximately 7:00pm ET. If at the time of notification or anytime thereafter, a Grand Prize-winning band notifies the Station that they cannot perform, the Station reserves the right (time permitting) to select an alternate Grand Prize-winning band from the remaining Finalist bands. Grand Prize-winning bands must agree to perform a twenty (20) minute set and will be told at this event which Rockin’ On The River concert they will be performing at. All Grand Prize-winning bands MUST attend this event to be eligible to be eligible to claim the Grand Prize.
e. Entrants need not to listen to the Station or be present to win.
f. If a Grand Prize-winning band cannot be contacted by 12:00pm ET on Monday, June 24, 2019, an alternate Grand-Prize winning band may be selected at the Station’s discretion (time permitting). Any Grand Prize-winning band who fails to respond by this deadline are deemed to be waiving their prize claim and their Grand Prize will be forfeited.
g. Decisions of Station management with respect to the Contest are final.
a. The Station reserves the right to end any contest or amend these rules upon announcement on air and by publication at www.wcsx.com.
c. Copies of the written Contest rules and a list of all winners are available during regular business hours at the main studio of the Station, One Radio Plaza, Detroit MI 48220, or by sending a self-addressed, stamped envelope to the Station.
