As a young girl, Angela Ashmore was different than most girls her age, instead of shopping and doing traditional things that most girls like to do, she was a huge NASCAR fan Angela turned her childhood dreams into a rarity in NASCAR. The Coopersville, Michigan native is the lead engineer on the No. 38 Front Row Motorsports MDS Transport Ford driven by veteran David Ragan. Ashmore and Team Penske’s Andrea Mueller are the lone two females serving in this position in Cup. Mueller works on Ryan Blaney’s No. 12 Ford.
Angela and I talk about her love of the sport, her favorite driver of all time, and what it’s like being a woman in a field that has been dominated by men. Listen to her story and her journey into the world of motorsports and you will know why she is a WCSX “Woman Who Rocks”.
Ashmore is an employee of Roush-Fenway Racing, and she is leased out to Front Row due to the two teams’ technical alliance. She works three days a week in the shop helping set up the cars, then heads to the race track on Thursdays. Her schedule is long and grueling, but she loves her career and what she does.
Angela studied mechanical engineering at Indiana-Purdue before landing a job at Chrysler and later Roush-Fenway. She says the toughest part of her job is that it usually requires her working seven days a week.
Cyber Bully’s are real. They hide in a room in front of a screen and unleash their hatred on anyone who is willing to engage. Scroll through the comments under a youtube video and you will see for yourself the comments from people who thrive on putting others down. How do you stop them? There is a way. In the second half of the podcast, I am always joined by Cyndy Schalter from Turning Point Macomb.
This week Cyndy and I discuss how to put a stop to a Cyber Bully. We also tackle the topic of safe spaces at colleges, yup, it’s a real thing. Is it really that bad?
Cyndy and I also discuss rape allegations and when a compliment becomes sexual assault. When does a compliment or a comment go to far?
