With over 50 million records sold, countless Top 40 Hits, and an induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, it's no wonder that when Jeff Lynne's ELO made a tour stop here in the Motor City, it was sure to bring out a full crowd of classic rock fans and an epic live performance that seamlessly blended rock, classical, and pop music.

Marked as "The Over and Out Tour," Jeff Lynne's ELO announced to the world earlier this year that this, indeed, would be the farewell tour for the famed group and musician. Lynne (age 76) has been the sole leader musician of ELO (Electric Light Orchestra) for nearly 50 years. In addition to his successes with the band, Lynne bears notoriety as being only one of four people ever to be an official producer of The Beatles music and a part of perhaps the biggest supergroup of all time, The Traveling Wilburys.

All that aside, Jeff Lynne's ELO played to a nearly sold-out crowd at Little Caesars Arena here in Detroit (their last appearance here in the Motor City since 2019). 94.7 WCSX was on site and had their eyes and ears hooked on the 90-minute 20-song setlist that was only hit after hit.

Lynne was accompanied by a mini-orchestra of twelve other musicians that included a backup vocalist and guitarist and a cellist, violinist, and synthesist that engulfed the Little Caesars Arena with out-of-this-world sound. If the sounds weren't enough, the visual spectacle of lasers and video made the show an unforgettable experience.

If it truly was the final call for Jeff Lynne's ELO, this writer, along with about 15,000 others in attendance, will tell you that it was worth the five-year wait just to finally see them one more time in Detroit before they blast off into retirement.
