Parshallville Cider Mill - Cider and Donuts

This mill was a part of Fenton before Fenton came into existence. It’s named after the town originally settled as “Parshallville.” This 145-year-old mill has been a flour mill, gristmill, and now it’s home to Parshallville Cider Mill.  Family-owned and run, they offer a delicious selection of cider, donuts, pies, and caramel apples.

Parshallville Cider Mill History

Tom Walker’s Grist Mill is also known as The Parshallville Cider Mill.  Many Michigan towns in the 1800s started out as post offices and gristmills.  Isaac Parshall found a good mill site along Ore Creek and established the first Post Office in 1837 which he ran out of his home. Parshall originally ran the mill as a flour mill (Success Flour).

In 1878, the mill became the property of Tom Walker and he ran it as a gristmill.  It stayed in the family for three generations until it was sold and turned into a cider mill in 1968.  The 145-year-old mill is one of the few water-powered mills that still exist in Michigan.  The site received historic site status in 1975.  For many years now, Jack and Sandy Detlefs have owned the mill.  They run it with their children and grandchildren, sharing their family traditions with yours.
