Reasons to celebrate you may not be aware of: This Saturday, September 3rd, is NATIONAL CINEMA DAY!  National Cinema Day celebrates our movie theaters and gives you THREE DOLLAR TICKETS to all shows and formats (even 3D).   A lot of movie theaters here, in our area are a part of this!  AMC, Emagine, Phoenix, MJR, and Cinemark are all celebrating National Cinema Day with three-dollar tickets.  CLICK HERE for the Cinema Day website.  Enter your zip code and all the theaters near you will pop up.  Click on the theater to check out their movie listings.

National Cinema Day is pretty genius.

Traditionally, Labor Day Weekend has been the slowest time for movie theaters.  Cinema Day was created to bring attention and excitement back to the theaters and showcase the Fall releases.  Some theaters are showing older movies like Jaws and Spider-Man No Way Home.  The AMC John R-15 is showing Top Gun – Maverick, in case you missed it.

What do you want to see?  Big Jim has mentioned that “Nope” was really good, but other friends have said, “Nope” to “Nope.”  I suppose I’ll need to check it out for myself.  The idea of seeing “Spider-Man” on the big screen again is also really enticing.  There are also a lot of great kids’ movies being shown: Minions – The Rise Of Gru, DC Super Pets, and  Dragon Ball Super: Super Hero.  The next release that I’m SUPER PUMPED about is the new Avatar movie.  It’s not coming out until December, but that’s not that far away considering it’s been 12+ years since the first movie.  Avatar, according to box office receipts, is the biggest movie worldwide of all time.  I recently talked about “Titanic” sinking a slot in the domestic (not world) rankings.  “Maverick” just passed it and it could take a couple more slots before it’s capped.  Check out the top 10 domestic movies when you CLICK HERE.

Here are the top 5 grossing movies of all time worldwide.

  • #5 Avengers: Infinity War - $2,048,359,754

  • #4 Star Wars: Episode VII - The Force Awakens - $2,069,521,700

  • #3 Titanic - $2,201,647,264

  • #2 Avengers - Endgame - $2,797,501,328

  • #1 Avatar - $2,847,397,339

Here’s the trailer for the NEW “Avatar – The Way of the Water”
