I know it's just not me who is excited for this years 4th of July celebrations, we saw the excitement at the Ford Fireworks in Downtown. Let's keep that excitement and fun going with some great 4th of July celebrations in Metro Detroit and surrounding areas.

DETROIT FIREWORK HISTORY:

The fireworks on the River we renamed the "Ford Fireworks" as a sponsorship deal back in 2013. But, the legacy of the fireworks was well established dating back to the 1950s. The Fireworks first took place in 1958, as a way to locally celebrate Independence day. Although back then the firework display was much smaller, the event still attracted thousands of people.

Fast forward to the 80s and 90s, the Fireworks began to gain popularity and the displays of fireworks match the crowds. The shows got bigger and the Detroit Fireworks grew into one of the best shows in the country. As a shared event with our friends in Canada, it was great to see the event bigger than ever this year. It's safe to say the "Ford fireworks" will be around for years to come!

Hey It’s Ryan, let me start off by saying…YES, I was born and raised in Wixom, Michigan although a lot of listeners like to joke that I am from Arizona. WCSX has always been my radio home, I have been at the station since I was a 23-year-old intern, co-host of Big Jim’s House, married with kids. Family and radio are what I love, but don’t get me started on golf! Like some, I have become obsessed with golf and you can hear all about that on “The Ball Washer Pod” right here on WCSX. One of my other passions is helping out the Vets. Since coming to WCSX I have been apart of raising hundreds of thousands for local vet groups. Other than that, I am a goofy guy, loving life, my family and talking to you on the radio. Ryan writes about golf, family and what happens on “Big Jim’s House.”
