Pumpkin Spice Lattes are now available at Starbucks for the 2022 season: Let The Pumpkin Spice Games Begin.  This craze has become a yearly phenomenon.  We already got a latte and a frappuccino.  LET’S GO!

Starbucks Spiced Pumpkin Latte and Frappuccino

While drinking my latte, I did some research. There are insane amounts of food and drink options, the top categories being: coffee, breakfast items, and desserts.  Trader Joe’s does a whole Pumpkin Palooza of items each Fall.  The limited-edition SPAM (pictured above) is for sale on E-Bay and people are asking $50-$240 dollars for it!  Unbelievable, but true.  Check out the listings HERE.

Would you eat Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese on your bagel? Even if you said no, wait, cause there is more. The genius of many of these products is their potential as ingredients in other foods like cakes and muffins. I don’t know if I’d eat it on a bagel. But as an ingredient in cake, muffins, or waffles?  HECK YEAH.  Sign me up!

The Marketing Genius

Limited batch / Limited edition labeling is KEY.  Listen, you can’t get this year-round.  If you want some, you better act FAST! I’m not a huge fan of Pumpkin Spice items, but I am a HUGE FAN of Fall and Halloween.  Michigan is a fantastic place to be in the Fall.  It’s our jam.  Years when I wasn’t working full-time, I started decorating my house for Fall and Halloween at the beginning of September.  I’d wait until October 1st to decorate outside, but inside… I was throwing up Fall by September 8th.  I like seeing all the pumpkin spice stuff because it gets me in the mood for Fall and Halloween.

  Starbucks has their Pumpkin Spice Latte available NOW. The drink has been super popular (this is actually the 19th year Starbucks has offered Pumpkin Spice Latte). Starbucks also has their Pumpkin Cold Brew

  7-Eleven and Speedway stores have two seasonal drinks: pumpkin spice latte and pumpkin spice coffee.

  Dunkin Donuts is all in with a Pumpkin spice MENU that includes their new Nutty Pumpkin coffee, plus donuts, creamers, K-cups, and ground coffee.
  

• Philadelphia Pumpkin Spice Cream Cheese Spread

• Land o' Lakes Pumpkin Spice Butter Spread

  
  Not only can you use this on toast or bagels, but there are also recipes for muffins and bread. Land O’ Lakes is serious about this spread.

• Krispy Kreme Fall Menu

  Available now, Krispy Kreme has the pumpkin spice original glazed donut, pumpkin spice original filled cheesecake donut, pumpkin spice cake donut and pumpkin spice latte, PLUS two new sweets: pumpkin spice latte swirl donut and pumpkin spice iced coffee.

  PLUS! They’ll have the super cute frosted donuts closer to Halloween.

• SHUT UP! Pillsbury Pumpkin Spice Cookie Dough

  
  AND they have cream cheese flavored chunks in them AND they come with 12 big cookies instead of the 20 smaller cookie option on some types of cookies.  I have been using Pillsbury cookie dough for decades to make it look like I spent all day in the kitchen making cookies.

  Have you seen or tried My Mochi ice cream? Mochi is a type of Japanese dessert. There are many types of Mochi (frozen and unfrozen). The actual mochi is made of “a short-grained, sweet, glutinous rice,” according to Oxford Dictionary. Mochi is basically the wrapper used for a ton of different desserts.

  Who thought this up? Give that genius a raise. From a marketing standpoint, this is a no-brainer. The title is great, product reinforcement, plus riding that sweet pumpkin spice wave. Brilliant! Oh, I’m sure it’s delicious too. 🙂
