Michigan has some great beaches.

If you love beaches, then Michigan is the perfect state for you. Not only do we have the Great Lakes, but Michigan also has countless inland lakes, all with pristine sandy beaches.

That's one great thing about Michigan. You don't have to travel too far to enjoy a great vacation, especially if you're a "beach bum." Lots of people from across the U.S. come to Michigan to vacation in the spring and summer, including some of my friends in Florida. With that being the case, why not take enjoy the beautiful beaches we have in Michigan and plan your spring getaway or summer vacation right here in the Mitten?

Read on for a list I’ve put together of 25 (okay, it's 26) of Michigan’s best beaches. There were far too many to include, so I picked 25, but if you have a spot that you believe should be on the list, reach out to me on social media and let me know. One of my favorite spots on this list is Saugatuck, because my uncle lives very close to there off Lake Michigan. Not only does Saugatuck have incredible beaches for as far as the eye can see, but they also have a fun tourist town with little shops that are open during the warm months. A few other very popular spots are Grand Haven and South Haven. Both are on the west side of the state and offer ample public beach space.

By the way, here's some Lake Michigan trivia for you. Lake Michigan is the third largest Great Lake by surface area. It's also the sixth largest freshwater lake in the world. The lake has a surface area of 22,404 square miles, and its average depth is 279 feet. The lake's greatest depth is 923 feet. That sounds deep, but the average depth of the ocean is 12,100 feet.
