31 years ago – In 1991, Metallica released their self-titled fifth album, which everyone refers to as The Black Album. That’s the one with “Enter Sandman”, “The Unforgiven”, and “Nothing Else Matters”.

45 years ago – In 1977, the Space Shuttle Enterprise passed its first solo test flight by taking off from atop a Boeing 747, separating and then touching down in California’s Mojave Desert. Sadly, the Enterprise never made it into space.

28 years ago – In 1994, the second Woodstock, Woodstock 94, kicked off to mark the 25th anniversary of the original. It ran for three days and the tickets cost $135 each, or you could watch it on Pay-Per-View for $49.
