    The French built Fort St. Joseph where Port Huron would later take shape in 1688, 13 years before Fort Pontchartrain (Detroit!)

    Gratiot Avenue runs from Detroit to Port Huron and was completed by 1836.

    World famous inventor Thomas Edison (invented the light bulb, the phonograph, etc.) was raised in Port Huron in the 1850’s.

    Port Huron is an International boarder crossing to Canada via the Blue Water Bridge.

    Since 1925, Port Huron has been the starting location of the annual Port Huron to Mackinac sail boat race, the world’s longest continually run long distance fresh water boat race.
