Being the head coach of a team in the NFL is not an easy task. When you win, people adore you. When you lose, they want you gone.

The analysts at Action Network have analyzed social media sentiment data over a 12-month period to reveal which NFL coaches are the most disliked in the league.

Los Angeles Chargers’ Brandon Staley is the No. 1 coach in the hot seat and has garnered more social media negativity than any other coach since the start of this season. As for the most liked coach in the NFL, that honors goes to Nick Sirianni of the Philadelphia Eagles, who has garnered the least online criticism than any other coach in the NFL.

Read on for the full tally of the most liked and disliked coaches in the NFL. If you’re wondering, Dan Campbell is not on either of these lists. According to the study, he has a negative sentiment score of 17.6%.

  • 1. Most disliked coach in the NFL - Brandon Staley

“The Los Angeles Chargers’ Brandon Staley is on seriously thin ice among fans, and has been for quite some time, receiving more social media negativity than any other coach since the start of the season and ranking the most disliked NFL coach since November 2021,” the Action Network study states. “Currently, 25% of all social media posts about Staley are fueled by criticism.”

  • 2. Most disliked coach in the NFL - Kevin Stefanski

“Three of AFC North’s head coaches rank in the top five most disliked coaches from the past month, with roughly one in every four social media posts about Kevin Stefanski (24.9%), Zac Taylor (24%), and John Harbaugh (22.2%) of the Browns, Bengals, and Ravens considered negative,” the Action Network study says. “This is a far cry from 12 months ago, when no AFC North representatives featured in the top five, and John Harbaugh’s 8.65% negative sentiment score was the highest in the division.”

  • 3. Most disliked coach in the NFL - Zac Taylor

These names are a “far cry from 12 months ago, when no AFC North representatives featured in the top five, and John Harbaugh’s 8.65% negative sentiment score was the highest in the division,” the Action Network study states.

  • 4. Most disliked coach in the NFL - Matt Rhule

“The standout name from NFC South, Matt Rhule ranks in fourth place with a negative sentiment score of 23.8% coinciding with his recent firing and steady run of poor form,” the Action Network study says.

  • 5. Most disliked coach in the NFL - John Harbaugh

When I hear the name Harbaugh, I of course think of Jim Harbaugh of the Wolverines. I almost forgot that his brother, John, is also a coach. He heads up the Ravens and is apparently drawing some online criticism.

  • 1. Most liked coach in the NFL - Nick Sirianni

“On the opposite end of the table, Nick Sirianni ranks first for receiving the least criticism than any other NFL coach. Across the year, the Philadelphia Eagles coach has seen a drop in negativity, with Sirianni now at 7.13%,” the Action Network study says.
