The first success Bill Murray found was at The Second City, an improvisational group in Chicago in the 1970s. That success led to starring on “Saturday Night Live” which then spawned one of the best (and funniest) film careers around. Murray has starred in some of the most indelible comedies, including “Caddyshack,” “Ghostbusters,” and “Groundhog Day.” It was his dramatic role in the 2003 “Lost in Translation” that garnered him a Golden Globe award and an Oscar nomination. In 2016, Murray received one of the greatest honors for a comedian when he was awarded the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor by the Kennedy Center.

Today (Sept. 21st) is Bill Murray's birthday - and I thought I'd share my list of his top five movies and see if you agree. Here's another good list (I'm not sure I agree with it...but hey)

1. Groundhog Day

I know some people are yelling at the screen right now - but this role from Bill has everything...comedy, drama, action and freakin' morning show. I love this movie and watch it over and over (see what I did there?)

2. Stripes

This could be his "coolest" role. What an amazing character and the scenes at basic training will be quoted for 100 years.

3. Caddyshack

Tears in eyes...a cinderella story. Carl is magical and makes this movie (especially considering he was only supposed to be a bit player in it along with Chevy Chase). I'll never look at a gopher the same way again.

4. St. Vincent

Something about this movie really caught me in the feels. Wonderful acting from Bill and such a gentle vibe (it's different for Bill). Highly recommend.

5. Ghostbusters

Yes Dr. Venkman is the funniest character in the movie - and YES, I could've rated this higher. What an amazing movie - he steals scenes (even with a giant marshmallow)
