In the 1830’s Wixom was known as “Sibley’s Corners”.
Downtown Wixom was originally located by what are now Wixom Road and Pontiac Trail. That small downtown area burned down in the 1920’s
Wixom was mostly agricultural until the 1950’s, when Ford Motor Company built a massive factory that made Lincoln Continentals and Town Cars.
Wixom was named after Ahijah Wixom.
The slogan of Wixom is “A Community with Character.”
