Research shows that reading self-selected texts for 20 minutes a day is the single greatest factor in improving student vocabulary, grammar skills, and improvements in academic achievement. My list is full of diverse, high interest books to help them achieve that goal.

I have a lot of books on my wishlist. Many of our kids don’t have books at home and having a diverse library for them to access at school is a great way to get them excited about reading. The supplies will help my students in the inner city of Flint have what they need to be successful using the next generation science standards. My school is a title one school. Many students are free and reduced lunch. Giving them all a notebook and having pencils for them will go a long way to helping them be successful.

They also need sensory items to help regulate their emotions and get their needed sensory input throughout the day.
