Soaring Eagle Arts Beats and Eats presented by Flagstar Bank has been a Labor Day weekend tradition ever since I returned to Michigan. It’s a ton of great music, food and art jammed into a four-day event. Every year I try something new, see something new and buy something new. LOL Here are some of my favorites from this year’s event.
ARTS
I always pay special attention to musically themed art, but I’m also a sucker for glass and metal. I LOVED the blown glass flowers at Belleau Art Glass and not just because they listen to WCSX. A couple of the folks with this booth might have won tickets in the past by listening to WCSX! I love running into people that have won from us. When you’ve been around for 35 years, this happens pretty regularly, but I love it every time.
BEATS
Obviously, Tommy DeCarlo, the lead singer of Boston put on a “smokin’” show (see what I did there?). I also LOVE 311. Having them on this year’s lineup was a special treat.
EATS
My top two eats that I personally sampled: Big Mike’s Burritos and Eureka Eatery’s Venetian Hot Chicken Tenders. Look… there is no BAD food at Arts Beats and Eats (at least in my experience). It’s just a question of what you like the best. I would love to say that I had time to taste it ALL, but then I wouldn’t have room for ONE THIN MINT.
Arts Beats and Eats is celebrating nearly 25 years of being an event and raising money for our local charities. The event has donated more than 6 million dollars to local charities… and that’s not including whatever was raised this year! Check out my photos… the pictures are worth a thousand words. 🙂
