Laura is now Executive Director & CEO of Gilda’s Club Detroit, and a passionate champion for the cancer community. Laura also has a personal connection to cancer and understands the difficult path the disease can impose on families. Gilda’s Club Metro Detroit is an affiliate of the Cancer Support Community. With more than 150 monthly programs, Gilda’s Club provides support, education and wellness to anyone facing cancer and continues to set the gold standard of care. The program is no cost to anyone and ensures no one faces cancer alone. Gilda’s Club main Clubhouse is in Royal Oak with offsite locations in Saint Clair Shores, Dearborn and Farmington Hills.

Facebook, the world’s largest social media site, will soon take aim against anti-vaxers. Parents are increasingly turning to social media to gather information and form opinions about their children’s health and the consequences of inaccurate information has been playing out offline. Cyndy and I discuss the ramifications when this information is spread and how we can be more vigilant in helping to end the spread of false information.

Facebook to target vaccine misinformation with focus on pages, groups, ads | CNN

Facebook, the world's largest social media site, will soon take aim against anti-vaxers. The company will start by lowering the ranking of groups and pages that spread misinformation about vaccinations in its News Feed and Search options, a representative said Wednesday.

More and more celebrities are turning to social media to reach out to fans, especially in times of need. Pop star Justin Bieber is the latest to do just that. He recently posted on his Instagram about his recent struggles. The singer married model and actress Hailey Baldwin last September, after undergoing an informal detox in 2014. Cyndy and I have a very real conversation about Justin’s struggles and how they could benefit others who are going through similar situations with mental diseases.
