As if Holly doesn’t have enough charming, quaint, unique experiences to offer, Diehl’s Orchard & Cider Mill makes the community that much more diehl-icious with their cider mill run by four generations of Deihls. They hold an annual Ciderfest every Fall and offer pony rides, a small petting zoo, hayrides, pumpkins, and more.
Diehl’s Orchard & Cider Mill History
This cider mill opened in 1954 when Paul Diehl and his wife Isabelle moved from New Jersey to help Paul’s brother run an orchard in downtown Holly. Paul soon after purchased the property in Rose Township with 100 acres and planted more apple trees.
Two of their sons and their wives, Ed and Doris, and Jack and Sally, took over the running of the mill for many years. Later, Jack’s son, Mike, and his wife, Chris, took over the business. Around the same time, their son, Nick, and his wife, Julie Diehl, became part owners and are keeping the family-owned and operated business going as the fourth generation of Deihl’s Orchard & Cider Mill.
This is part of their mission statement: “As a family-owned business, we want to bless our community by giving people a place to create traditions, enjoy time together and step out of fast-paced lives and away from screens. We have been in Holly all of our lives and love to personally serve every customer who walks in our doors. We keep our prices as low as we can so that any family, no matter their financial state, can come make unforgettable memories and keep up traditions.” (We love it!)
