The American film industry is one of the oldest and most profitable businesses globally. Raking in an estimated 8.75 billion dollars in 2024 alone. It seems movies boasting the most significant budgets performed better at the box office. With budgets soaring and profits trying to keep pace, there seems to be a shortage of bizarre movies. While certain films always have their quirks, the outlandishly weird movies are scarcer to find.

The budgets for movies now are insane. Gladiator II worked with a budget of $310 million, Deadpool and Wolverine had over $200 million, and “Inside Out 2” spent $200 million. These three movies combined grossed nearly 3.5 billion dollars worldwide. This proves that people still love their films and will travel to theaters even in 2025 to see them.

Weird Movies

But what about the weird movies that stretch the limits of your imagination? Movies that feature such bizarre concepts and plots are often extremely difficult to pull off. With how mainstream the movie industry has become, it has seemingly become harder than ever to pull off cunning and creative concepts.

Streaming Saves The Day

Many movies are written and directed under the “everyone must like it” premise. In my opinion, this limits some of the original ideas we may see hit the big screen. In this way, Netflix, Max, and other streaming services have helped tremendously. When Billion-dollar production companies won’t make a movie because it’s “too weird,” insert a Netflix original movie. For fans of scary movies, check out this list.

Not all movies are good, that is true with a 1-million-dollar budget or a 2-billion-dollar budget, however sometimes a weird movie is just what the doctor ordered to keep the viewer on their toes. Read on to uncover some of the odd film that you forget existed. Some may even be worth a rewatch.

  • The Green Inferno (2013)

A small group of activists’ journeys to the Amazon rainforest based on conservation efforts. What follows is weird and, quite frankly, gross.

A High School comic book fan lives out every boy’s dream of becoming a superhero.
