  • Abram Walrod is Commerce Royalty

    The first settler to Commerce Township was Abram Walrod who came in 1825 from New York.

  • M-5 takes you to so many places

    Commerce Township has a rural “up North feel” that is easily accessible at the North end of M-5 that provides rapid access to Downtown Detroit.

  • Rivers and lakes galore!

    Commerce Twp. includes most of Proud Lake State Recreation Area. The Huron River runs mostly north-south through the township, and the township also features Wolverine Lake.

  • We're all family here!

    The motto of Commerce Township is: “ When you are here, You are family”

  • And I would have got away with it too! If not for those meddling parents!

    In 1994, An Eagle Scout made a homemade nuclear reactor in a shed behind his house and received international attention, (as well as the attention of the Police, FBI and EPA!

    Today, Commerce Township has many parks, waterways and golf courses. Small lake cottages have been replaced by large modern homes and the Haggerty Road corridor is bustling with businesses and industry.
