Sammy Hagar Singing DLR-Era Songs On New Tour
Kicking off his “Best of All Worlds” tour over the weekend (July 13th, 2024) in West Palm Beach, Florida, with Sammy Hagar singing DLR-Era songs… It definitely created a buzz. This is the first time Sammy has done this in more than 20 years. You can check the complete setlist here.
This tour has been hotly anticipated. Sammy has done everything he could to make this tour a tribute to Eddie Van Halen. Michael Anthony and Sammy have been playing together for decades now in various bands. Also on this year’s line up, Joe Satriani on guitar and Jason Bonham on drums.
The Red Rocker traditionally has steered away from early (DLR-era) Van Halen aside from a number or two when he was with Van Halen. Last year’s Pine Knob setlist included Michael Anthony singing “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love,” but Sammy was not a part of the number.

Here’s Eddie playing in 1995. He looks so completely happy and comfortable. I really loved watching this.

As of publishing, some lawn seats are / were still available at 40 bucks a pop. The pavilion is all “Verified Resale” tickets and start at $200 a piece. ouch.
I give Sammy a ton of credit for following through on this. Van Halen camp proper hasn’t been able to pull anything together since Eddie‘s passing on October 6th, 2020. Eddie’s son Wolfgang, said in an interview with Rolling Stone that a tribute show would never happen saying “Some people are making it very difficult.” That interview was in 2022.
Sammy Hagar singing DLR-Era songs has met a warm welcome thus far. I would LOVE to be a fly on the wall when David Lee Roth found out about this. Not that I have anything against Dave, but that Sammy-Dave rivalry that has poked its head up from time to time through the years is always entertaining.
